Bowie Release Date Source Map
The controlling date source changes with custody. For a Bowie County pretrial booking, the court can authorize bond or release, but the jail records the physical departure after processing and holds clear. For a county sentence, the signed judgment and credited days feed the sheriff's computation. For Barry B. Telford Unit or another state prison, TDCJ Classification and Records applies the Texas sentence rules. FCI Texarkana belongs to the federal Bureau of Prisons, so neither the Bowie roster nor TDCJ calculates its release date.
A state-prison search result should be saved with the date viewed. The current-only TDCJ interface may display a Projected Release Date, maximum sentence date, and parole eligibility date. Those labels must remain separate. After the person leaves TDCJ, a failed online search proves little because the interface is not a historical released-person database. The free TDCJ email channel or a focused Public Information Act request supplies the public incarceration and release history needed to confirm what happened.
Federal records require the same source discipline. The BOP locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward. A future date is projected and can change. A past date paired with a Released location establishes departure from BOP custody, but another sovereign's custody or federal supervised release may follow. Federal pretrial detainees can be held in local or contract facilities, so the federal court docket and a focused USMS records request may be stronger than the BOP locator for that stage.
For every system, write down the identifier, field label, displayed date, and capture date. Then ask for the actual release manner and destination. That small record prevents an eligibility date, maximum date, transfer date, or old projection from being reported as the day the person returned to the community.
Bowie Projected and Actual Release
TDCJ calls its estimate the Projected Release Date. The field reflects the sentence information and legal calculation applied when the record was viewed. It is not a court promise, a parole eligibility date, or an actual departure timestamp. A person can remain confined after an earlier estimate changes, or leave custody through an authorized event before a former estimate.
A pretrial person in the Bowie County Detention Center or Bi-State Justice Center Jail generally has no computed TDCJ date. Bond may offer a route out, but release still depends on processing and all holds. A county sentence relies on the signed judgment, credited days, sheriff's computation, and actual release sheet. A sentenced person at Barry B. Telford Unit or another state prison follows TDCJ calculation rules.
Find Bowie County Release Dates
Use identifiers that belong to the correct system. A Bowie booking number is not a TDCJ number, and a county roster cannot calculate a state-prison sentence. The TDCJ inmate search includes current TDCJ inmates only. Search by TDCJ number when known, or use the accepted name and birth-date fields. Read every date label before recording the projection.
- Identify whether the person is pretrial, serving a county sentence, confined in TDCJ, or in federal custody.
- For a current state prisoner, open the TDCJ result and record the Projected Release Date, maximum sentence date, and parole eligibility date separately.
- For Bowie jail custody, obtain the signed judgment and jail-credit information from the court, then ask the jail records custodian for its computation or actual release sheet.
- For a former TDCJ inmate, use the free TDCJ information request or formal public-information route because the online search is not a released-person archive.
- Recheck close to the expected date and confirm actual departure with the agency that held the person.

TDCJ Release Date Fields
Each date answers a different question. A future projected release should not be confused with the first day of parole review. Likewise, the maximum sentence date is not automatically the day the person walks out because legal credits, parole, mandatory supervision, and sentence structure can affect the calculation.
| Field | Correct reading |
|---|---|
| Projected Release Date | TDCJ's current estimate based on sentence and applicable rules. |
| Parole Eligibility Date | The point when review may occur, not a grant or release promise. |
| Maximum Sentence Date | End of the judicial term before the effect of applicable release rules. |
| Actual Release or Discharge | A historical event obtained from TDCJ records after departure. |
| Current unit | Evidence of present state confinement, subject to later transfer. |
TDCJ's official historical-information page also explains the public fields available by email. View the source shown in the captured TDCJ information screen.

Texas Good Time Rules
Texas has no general state-prison rule that every prisoner serves 85 percent. That shorthand must not be imported from federal practice. Parole eligibility is offense and date specific under Government Code Section 508.145. Some aggravated offenses and deadly-weapon findings use calendar-time provisions without good-conduct time toward the stated fraction or minimum. Other categories follow different subsections.
Government Code Chapter 498 governs Texas good-conduct time. Credits can affect eligibility or a projected calculation where the law permits, but they do not reduce the judicial sentence itself and do not guarantee parole. Classification, work, program participation, disciplinary loss, and restoration can affect the credit record under applicable rules.
For eligible offenses committed before September 1, 1996, TDCJ explains that mandatory release may occur on the projected date absent parole. For eligible later offenses, the Board has discretion over mandatory supervision. If release is denied or the person is not eligible, the projected field may reflect the discharge date. The offense date and statutory category are therefore essential.
Why Bowie Release Dates Change
TDCJ's Classification and Records staff calculate state eligibility from official records. A projected date can move when source data changes or a later event affects the legal path. Record the date on which a projection was viewed. Then compare the same identifiers and labels on the next check.
| Factor | Possible effect |
|---|---|
| Corrected sentence or jail credit | Changes the time entered into the calculation. |
| Concurrent or consecutive terms | Changes how multiple sentences combine. |
| Disciplinary credit loss or restoration | Moves an eligible computed date. |
| Parole vote | Can approve, deny, defer, or impose prerequisites. |
| Mandatory-supervision eligibility | Determines whether that release route is available or discretionary. |
| Detainer, hold, or new case | Can prevent community departure or shift the receiving authority. |
| Court order | Can correct or alter the legal basis for custody. |
A transfer between TDCJ units is not release. Nor is a move from Bowie County jail to TDCJ, another county, USMS, or ICE. Follow the receiving system before describing the person as free.
Bowie County Sentence Computation
No current official Bowie County policy was found that publishes a local good-time award, exact release-hour formula, or weekend adjustment. That absence is the distinctive local rule. Do not apply TDCJ parole mathematics to a county sentence and do not move a date simply because it falls on a weekend.
The durable sources are the signed judgment, the court's credited days, the sheriff's sentence computation, and the actual release sheet. The Bowie County Odyssey portal can locate a case and docket events, but the District Clerk states that online search does not provide document viewing. Request the judgment or order from the proper clerk.
When a date is disputed, ask for the existing computation record and identify the cause number, booking number, sentence, credit entries, and date of calculation. A clear request gives the custodian a record to locate. It avoids asking the office to perform a new legal calculation or answer a hypothetical question.
Bowie Parole Date Limits
Parole eligibility is not release. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles reviews a file and may approve, deny, or set a later review. Ordinary review has no formal offender hearing or public case calendar. Even a favorable vote can include a program or condition that must be completed before the person leaves.
After an actual parole release, the TDCJ Parole Division supervises the person. Bowie County maps to the Texarkana District Parole Office. That office does not calculate county-jail time and does not make the Board's vote. The Bowie County Parole / Probation page distinguishes those roles and the local office route.
- Projected date
- An estimate based on the data and rules currently applied.
- Eligibility date
- The earliest relevant point for a statutory review or release route.
- Detainer
- A request or hold from another authority that can prevent community release.
- Discharge
- The completed end of the sentence or supervision obligation.
Confirm Bowie Actual Release
Close to an expected date, check the current custody source again and contact the responsible records office. For a state inmate, request updated public TDCJ information. General offender information is available at 936-295-6371 or 800-535-0283 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays. The Parole Division uses 512-406-5202 for favorable-vote and release-status questions documented by TDCJ.
For county custody, ask Bowie or the joint records channel for actual release date, time, reason, and destination. For notification, Texas IVSS-Counties may send a registered event alert. It is not a historical archive. Confirm the alert against the release sheet, and use the receiving agency when it describes a transfer.
The actual release record should state whether the person left on bond, court order, time served, parole, full discharge, or transfer. That event controls. A prediction, a favorable vote, or a vanished roster entry does not.
Note: Keep a dated copy of each projected field because sentence corrections, credits, Board action, and holds can change the next display.
